Walk Through Audit - $175.00
This audit is very basic and designed to identify obvious energy loss. The auditor uses their experience and a thermal imaging scanner to evaluate the thermal envelope(perimeter) of the house. This audit includes a one page report on findings and solutions. A quick inspection of the attic and basement/crawl space is included.
Comprehensive Energy Audit - $325.00
This is our most popular and cost effective audit. It includes a blower door test, thermal imaging, air flow testing at all registers(assuming a forced air system), energy component evaluation(furnace, water heater) refrigerator metering and insualtion inspection. The report is anywhere from 8-25 pages of information on your energy use and loss. We provide line item costs for each recommended measure and prioritize them based on payback.
Houses over 3,000 sq/ft (not including basement) are charged an additional $50.00. Travel charges may apply.
H.E.R.S. Rating - $525.00
A HERS rating is the most comprehensive evaluation of your energy use and loss. It includes every aspect of the Energy Audit above but includes a software model of your house and its use of energy. Once the house is modeled you can input energy efficient improvemnets such as "add R-30 insulation in attic" and it will give a cost estimate, annual savings, and payback in years.
HERS ratings produce a number from 1 to 150 as a score for your house. This rating number is used to qualify for energy efficient mortgages, meet building codes, and qualify for energy star incentives(new construction). Additionally, mortgage brokers and real estate professionals are using the HERS score as a measurement of energy efficiency. If you are selling your home, a good HERS score may be a deal closer.
