Financial Incentives for Energy Efficiency

DTE is sponsoring a one of a kind Energy Efficiency Program.  The Your Energy Savings (YES) program offers amazing incentives for energy efficiency for existing homes (click the link to visit DTE website).  If there was ever a time to weatherize your home it is now.  They are offering rebates for the cost of an energy audit.  They also offer rebates for the cost of insulation and weatherization.  On top of all the rebates from DTE, any efficiency measures you have completed on your home qualify for a $1500.00 tax credit from the Federal Government.  Theoretically, a $3,000.00 weatherization job can be done for FREE.  See eligibility and charts for this program.

We are RESNET certified HERS raters, State of Michigan certified Energy Auditors for the weatherization program and are approved energy auditors for Michigan Interfaith Power and Light.  MEA has been involved with this program from inception.  We have participated in the pilot program and continue to perform all levels of audits for DTE.    Call 248-249-3775 to discuss.

Consumers Energy is also offering an incentive program.  This program is scheduled to kick off in late 2010.  The program has not yet been ironed out but the incentives for audits may be retroactive.  Call today to schedule an audit.

Federal Tax Credits for Energy Efficiency Improvements

The Federal government is offering a tax credit of 30% of the cost of efficiency improvements.  Insulation, air sealing, windows, duct and pipe insulation, furnace replacement and doors are all included.  The total tax credit is $1500.00.  All of the improvments we recommend qualify for this credit.  Please visit energystar.gov/taxcredits for additional information.  This tax credit is completely independent of any efficiency program sponsored by the utility companies.
