Commercial Energy Audits
Walk-Through Audit
This audit is a cost effective way to identify obvious cost saving remedies and upgrades. Based on the auditors experience and use of a thermal imaging camera, the walk through audit will compare the energy use of the building to national averages of buildings of like size and use. Annual energy bills are required for comparison.
Standard Energy Audit
The standard commercial energy audit is a comprehensive study of the energy systems and energy use through out the building. This audit follows ASHRAE level 2 audit protocols. It also takes into consideration site orientation, geographic location, number of occupants, schedules and use. Unlike the walk through audit, this evaluation includes software modeling of the structure using e Quest software and DOE II parameters. Once modeled, we perform simulations on potential energy efficiency measures and provide SIR and ROI analysis on each measure. We also determine if there are potential federal incentives for the costs of upgrades.
The Federal government allows upto $1.80 per square foot of conditioned building space as a potential tax deduction for energy efficiency upgrades. The three areas of concentration are lighting, building envelope, and HVAC/water heating. Each concentration allows $.60 per square foot of tax deduction. An audit using an approved software modeling program is required to qualify for the tax deductions.
The local utility companies are offering incentives to increase energy efficiency. Please visit the Federal State and Local Incentives page.
